Open Studio
Open Studio at Mud and Co is your time to slow down, experiment, and build your own rhythm in the clay.
This is unstructured studio access designed for independent work - whether you’re continuing projects from class, testing new ideas, or simply carving out space to practice. You’ll have access to the same tools and equipment you’ve learned to use in Mud & Co classes, so you can work confidently and safely while developing your skills further.
The studio is open during ShopSpace hours whenever a Mud & Co class is not in session, creating a flexible window for making that fits into real life. Come in when it works for you, settle in, and get to work.
We offer Kentucky Mudworks Ice Man clay - a beautiful white stoneware that’s a pleasure to throw and handbuild with. It’s responsive, forgiving, and a great surface for both bold glaze work and quiet, minimal finishes. We also offer house-made glazes in a range of colors and finishes, along with an assortment of commercial glazes so you can explore different surfaces and firing outcomes. (Please note: no outside clay or glazes are allowed.)
Open Studio is available to anyone who has taken a Mud & Co class. If you haven’t taken a class but already have prior pottery experience, you’re welcome to join us by signing up for a studio orientation. Once completed, you’ll have full access to Open Studio time.
This is your space to keep going - messy experiments, focused practice, or whatever you’re ready to explore next.
If you already have pottery experience and are interested in Open Studio at Mud & Co, you’re welcome to get started without taking a class. Just contact us to book a studio orientation session ($50), and we’ll get you set up and ready to work.
